The water content in emulsified oil is generally less than 10%, and the oil content can reach up to 80%. The concentrated solution is W/O type, and the system is required to have a lower HLB value in order to be stable. The appearance of emulsified oil diluents is often milky white and not suitable for bright colors. The diameter of dispersed phase oil droplets is roughly within the range of 0.1~10um, and the visible light wavelength is 0.4~0.8um. Therefore, the reflection of light in the emulsion is relatively significant.
In addition, the lower limit of emulsion droplet size (about 0.1um) is very similar to the resolution limit of a regular microscope (about 0.2um).
The microemulsion oil water content can reach up to 30-60%, and the oil content is generally ≤ 30%. Its concentrated solution is O/W type, and the diluent is mostly transparent liquid. The diameter of oil droplets is usually 0.05-0.1um- The water content of some microemulsions with oil content up to 50% or more can also be as low as 20%. The concentrated solution is W/O type, and the diluent is blue white translucent liquid. It is a transition state emulsion (small emulsion) whose oil drop size is between ordinary emulsion and microemulsion, and the drop size is 0.1~0.4um
